“If you don’t have the right skills, which come from practice, no tool will do the job for you.”

Tom Silva, Building Contractor

This Old House regular for 25 years.

As quoted in October 2004 issue of This Old House magazine.

During my twenty-five years in the television industry there have been many technological improvements.  Truly portable video cameras and recorders. Computerized video editing. DVD’s. Every tool that we use has become smaller, more functional and much less expensive.

At the same time, the popularity of TV production as a career has exploded. Universities and trade schools are sending new workers into the field faster than the industry can use them. Better access to credit and lower start-up costs are allowing many to start their own companies. We have more competitors than ever before. Or do we really?

All the while, Versfelt Communications Group has remained steadfast in our conviction that it is the lessons learned and skills honed over many years and many projects that give our clients value, not merely the tools we use. Creative instincts, storytelling skills and understanding client’s needs are what set apart the professionals from the amateurs.

So as you solicit bids for your next video project, please keep in mind the old maxim ... “You get what you pay for”. Versfelt Communications Group takes pride in giving our clients maximum production values for a minimum price. No more and no less than what is necessary. Each production is a custom job and our prices fairly reflect client and production requirements, project complexity and the value of our EXPERIENCE. Ask our competitors about theirs. It’s about more than just tools and the lowest price.

POPULAR ATLANTA AREA TEA ROOM AND RESTAURANT HIRES VERSFELT TO HEAD NEW ADVERTISING, MARKETING AND PR EFFORTS

The Faded Rose Tea Room and Restaurant - and it's companion business the Faded Rose Antiques and Gift Shoppe in Historic Olde Chamblee's Antique Row (near Atlanta, Georgia) have hired Porter Versfelt to create a strategic advertising, marketing and public relations campaign. "The Owner - Jeanne Lord - is ready to take The Faded Rose enterprise to the next level and I'm flattered that she would choose Versfelt Communications Group to accomplish that", says Porter Versfelt.

The Faded Rose Tea Garden & Restaurant is located in historic Chamblee, Georgia and Antique Row just a few minute's drive from downtown and midtown Atlanta. The house was built in 1882 and is on the national historic registry. This beautiful home is an idyllic setting for enjoying a relaxing meal with friends, family or business clients. It is an eclectic fusion of traditional Southern tea room cuisine with imaginitive culinary creations for lunch, dinner, afternoon tea and special events. Reservations are recommended but not required at The Faded Rose.

It is a world apart here. Leave the hustle and bustle of urban Atlanta behind as you step into a bygone era. The Faded Rose is an oasis of calm, gentility and impeccable service. Helpful waiters and waitresses knowledgable about teas and tea culture. Chefs schooled in traditional fine dining and tea service, as well as their own imaginative culinary creations. In my opinion, The Faded Rose's Afternoon Tea Service has no equal in the Atlanta metro area or Georgia. The Faded Rose serves more than 50 teas from around the world that are brewed fresh daily. Herbal, fruit and traditional loose leaf teas. Savory hot teas and fruity sweet and unsweetened iced teas that are simply addictive! My favorites are the Tropical Blend, Peach and Apricot iced teas. All of the Faded Rose teas are available for purchase to take home with you.

Daily specials are offered along with perennial favorites such as pecan encrusted brook trout, Salmon, blackened Mahi-Mahi, Southern fried chicken, berry muffins, garlic mashed potatoes, crab cakes, Chicken Picatta, Creme Brulee', Caesar Salad and many more delectable tastes. Fresh scones, rosemary muffins, lemon curd, tea sandwiches, clotted cream and eclectic tea sandwiches are just some of the unique specialities which are all made fresh daily at The Faded Rose and are served with a European flair. All sauces and salad dressings, baked goods and signature dishes are made from scratch.

Owner Jeanne Lord has a thriving catering business as well for church gatherings, wedding receptions, teas and luncheons for bridal and baby showers, bridesmaid luncheons and teas, birthday parties, tea parties for little girls, Red Hat lunches and other special events.

You will find here a quaint mix of old and new. This former railroad train master's house sits across the street from the old Chamblee Railroad Depot and a busy train yard. It is interesting to watch the train crews change shifts and move trains back and forth. A special train themed dining room showcases rare model trains, railroad menus, signs and railroad china from the days when you could eat a fine meal while traveling on across the country on the rails in style. Other Faded Rose dining rooms include a sun porch and several elegant rooms where antique silverware and china place settings evoke a time when Southern ladies wore fancy hats and elbow-length gloves to lunch and afternoon tea. And some customers do just that even today. Local Red Hat Ladies groups are regular luncheon and afternoon tea customers at The Faded Rose.

The interesting interior decor at The Faded Rose is also for sale ... antique teacups, teapots and fine china, Victorian furniture, vintage purses, ladies hats, whimsical hand-embroidered shirts and much more are displayed in the historic dining rooms as well as at the Faded Rose Antiques and Gift Shoppe just a few blocks away. The Faded Rose features vintage European china, Crabtree and Evelyn, Trapp candles, Boyd's plush and resin bears, Demdaco Willow Tree Angels, Faded Rose jams, jellies and other foods and fine work from local artisans.

There is also a beautiful herb and flower garden surrounding the restaurant. Ample off-street parking. The Faded Rose is only a short walk to MARTA trains at the Chamblee Station and the many interesting antique stores and businesses in the Chamblee Antique Row shopping district. A short drive from The Faded Rose are downtown Atlanta, midtown, trendy Buckhead, the fashionable Lenox and Phipps Plaza shopping malls, Emory and Oglethrope Universites and the International Village along Buford Highway.

As a comfortable and unique place to unwind, eat well and be pampered, Faded Rose Tea Garden & Restaurant is unequaled.

PORTER VERSFELT LENSES E! TV REALITY SHOW IN FRANCE

Atlanta-based Director/Cameraman Porter Versfelt was the only USA-based Director/Cameraman hired by Primecuts Productions (LA & Paris) and E! Entertainment TV International (Paris, Rome) to shoot for the new E! reality TV series "Naked Cannes". For two weeks in May, Porter covered the glitz, glamour and craziness of the world's largest film festival which is held every year on the Cote' de Azur in southern France. The primarily European crew covered every aspect of Cannes for the 5 X 30-minute series, including the red carpet premier of STAR WARS, press conferences, media junkets and exclusive celebrity interviews. Acting as DP and Field Producer, Porter shot and/or inderviewed Jackie Chan, Michael Madsen, Morgan Freeman and many other stars as well as star-studded events. The Cannes Film Festival celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2005. The thousands of accredited news media who cover this global event number only second to the Olympics media coverage every four years. This was the second Cannes assignment for Porter.
